Synopsis

A woman dealing with a devastating loss. She struggles to choose what is best, living with her painful memories or trying to sink into oblivion? What remains to be answered : is her art going to offer her the redemption she anticipates?

Director's statement

The Scenery (forest & trees) in the movie “Engraved Rose” are draws, painted with charcoal and pencil, paper and paperboard, in 1:1 scale. This is what makes the movie so “handmade” and has already won awards in three different festivals with the Scenography Award (Set Design).

Director's short bio

Thanasis Neofotistos was born and raised in Athens. He initially studied Architecture in DUTh and afterwards continued by studying Film Directing and just recently obtained his Bachelor in Q.M.U (AMC) Film Studies. One of his characteristic assets, scenography, is an influence from both his studies. Up to now the two short films that he has completed for the purposes of his studies, has obtained several awards such as Best Short Film, Best scenography and distinctions in Film Directing.
