Synopsis

A girl stands over a rigid black mass that looks like the carcass of a dead beast. There is a bold bloodstain over the pelvis area on her white dress. She holds a knife, covered in blood. After a few dizzy steps she falls onto the ground, vomiting. From a hideous slash on the top of the fury body emerges something that has the shape of a human hand.

Director's statement

The film is based on various different versions of the folktale of Little Red Riding Hood from all over Europe. Despite its alterations, it stays true to the dark spirit of the myth that was originated back in the 14th century. The title -a line taken from Brothers’ Grimm original text- is a direct reference to the strong sexual subtext of the story. Under the Apron is a gothic themed coming of age tale, a brutal fable about the untimely loss of innocence.

Director's short bio

Born in Drama, Greece, 1985. He graduated from the Department of Balkan Studies, University of Western Macedonia, based in Florina. In 2008 he attended the Visual Anthropology course of the Babes-Bolyai University, in Cluj-Napoca. In 2009 he was accepted in the film studies post-graduate program of the Brunel University, London, where he gained a MA title in Cult Film & Television. One year later in Barcelona, he took part in the year-long filmmaking workshop, organized by afilm International Film Workshops.
